COTA Announces New Summer Student Pass Program to Provide Discounted Transit Access on All COTA Services

On Wednesday, June 1, COTA will launch a new Summer Student Pass Program, which provides discounted transit service for any student enrolled in any school, college or university over the summer. For $62, students will have unlimited transit access from June 1 through September 15. This is a savings of more than $150.

The new Student Summer Pass Program extends this benefit to students of all ages and helps close the transit gap that often happens during summer when school isn’t in session. The program provides students unlimited access to fixed-route buses, COTA//Plus and COTA Mainstream (to those who qualify for ADA service).

This Summer Student Pass Program and other discount programs are made possible by COTA’s new digital fare payment system, which expands access and corrects historic inequities in transit fares. Participants in the Summer Student Pass Program will use either the Transit app or COTA smartcard to board any fixed-route transit vehicle. Students who use COTA//Plus will be given a special access code and qualifying COTA Mainstream customers will be instructed how to use the pass program when they enroll.

Students who wish to enroll in the Summer Student Pass Program should bring a student ID or proof of enrollment from the spring semester to COTA’s Experience Center, located at 33 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43215. The Customer Experience Center is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To kick off the Summer Student Pass Program, COTA will host a “School’s Out for Summer Beach Party” June 1-3 at the Customer Experience Center. This is an opportunity for students and their parents to learn more about the new program, enroll and learn how to use COTA’s new digital fare payment system.
